The 2000 Ale House season is officially over. The team would like to say "Thank You" to Brian Gilchrist and the Ale House for sponsorship and to all of the great fans who supported our team. Although clearly a disappointing season for the Ale House, it appears as if the Ale House will re-load and re-build for the 2001 season. Looks for some fresh new faces to balance the experienced staff. See you next season!
Only the top four out of eight teams make the playoffs in 2000. Currently the Ale House is outside looking in, but there are a few issues that need to be resolved by the league. Playoff status should be announced next week.
(Ale House vs. Theo's - 7/28/00)
It could have been the last game for the 2000 Ale House
season. Certainly not an impressive game by any measure, as Bill
Saunders took the mound in replacement of Terry Scriven. John
Anderson went yard, the Ale House won and was able to secure a winning
season. Should this be the last game, next season is a serious
re-building year and one that has several top prospects in site. The final score was
22-10.
(Ale House vs. Ale House II - 7/26/00)
The Ale House played poorly and the well seasoned Ale House II
took advantage. Bill Saunders hit a two run homer to save some
face. The final score was 22-4 in
favor of Ale House II.
(Ale House vs. Ale House II - 7/21/00)
Rain Out!
(Ale House vs. Pam's Pub - 7/20/00)
This was one of the most embarrassing nights for the Ale
House team. Would you expect anything less this season? The
Ale House was comfortably building a 21-2 lead heading into the top of the
fifth inning. Three more outs and the game is over. A suspect
pitching change and Pam's Pub scores ten runs. In the top sixth they
add seven more and in the top of the seventh they tie the game
22-22. It took a lone run in the bottom of the seventh inning for
the Ale House to finally secure the win. The final score was 23-22.
(Ale House vs. Ale House II - 7/14/00)
It looked like it was going to be another competitive game
between Ale House and Ale House II. The Ale House II jumped out to a
4-0 lead, but in the top of the second the Ale House added three.
From there, the Ale House II blew out the Ale House. Noel Minbiole
went yard for the Ale House to add some relief. With the playoffs
around the corner, the Ale House better re-load and re-focus or else
they'll be looking from the outside in... The final score was
20-9 in
favor of Ale House II.
(Ale House vs. Sidelines - 7/12/00)
This was an all time low for the Ale House team. With only
seven players showing up at game time, it was almost a forfeit.
Somehow, we called up two additional guys and we played. U-G-L-Y is
the only way to describe the game. The Ale House better re-focus and
fast as the playoffs approach. The final score was 9-7 in
favor of Sidelines.
(Ale House vs. Alumni Grill Sharks - 7/5/00)
The Ale House without their full squad fell victim. The Alumni Grill Sharks
jumped out to a 9-0 lead after two innings and the Ale House struggled to
get back in it. Terry Scriven settled done after the first two innings,
but the Ale House just could not string anymore than a couple hits
together. The final score was 12-5 in
favor of Alumni Grill Sharks.
(Ale House vs. Theo's - 6/29/00)
The Ale House bats came alive, although the pitching for Theo's
was extremely weak. Bill Saunders had two home runs, in addition to
Dennis Ned, Tom Jewett and Scott Brown going yard. The final score was
15-6.
(Ale House vs. Orange Motors - 6/26/00)
The Ale House got spanked. The final score was 10-2 in
favor of Orange Motors.
(Ale House vs. Sidelines - 6/26/00)
The final score was 15-6.
(Ale House vs. Erin's Pub - 6/23/00)
It was a a relatively quiet and anti-climatic night.
The sun was shining bright, which was a anomaly given all of the rain this
year. The Ale House got off to a quick 3-0 lead, but Erin's Pub
stayed close the whole game. Dennis Ned and Terry Scriven went yard
for the Ale House. The final score was 10-7.
(Ale House vs. ProTech - 6/21/00)
It was a game the Ale House should have won. Both teams
looked focused and played reasonable defense. The rain was working
it's way in and the wind was swirling keeping every fly ball in the
air. Several balls looked deep, but stalled with the wind.
ProTech caught a few breaks that got them the ultimate win. The final score was
5-3 in
favor of ProTech.
(Ale House vs. Orange Motors - 6/19/00)
Orange Motors jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first and
built it to 10-5 going into the sixth inning. The Ale House then
exploded for nine runs and took the lead 14-10. Bobby Senecal capped
a key double play in the bottom of the sixth to kill was looked like a
Orange Motors rally. Dennis Ned hit a three run blast in the
third. The final score was 14-10.
(Ale House vs. Theo's - 6/16/00)
The Ale House was disappointed from the night before and as such
the bats exploded. Tom Jewett, Bill Saunders, Kevin Campfield, Shane
Quackenbush, Terry Scriven and Noel Minbiole
connected for home runs. The final score was
30-3.
(Ale House vs. Ale House II - 6/15/00)
These two teams, sponsored by the same establishment, are always
cordial and it is always a competitive game. The Ale House jumped
out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. The Ale House II
added one in the bottom of the first, but then the Ale House added one
more in the top of the second making the score 3-1. The Ale House
added another run on Dennis Ned's solo shot and the Ale House II added two
more on a homer, keeping the game competitive and close until the seventh
inning. With the Ale House up 4-3 in the seventh, some
insurance runs were need. Michael Labanowski added a solo home run
and the Ale House squeezed in one more to make the score 6-3 going into
the bottom of the seventh inning. The Ale House II is always a
threat and with a man on first and second the Ale House II tied the game
on a three run homer. Quickly after they loaded the bases and with
the outfield playing in, they won the game on a drive to left field.
The final score was 7-6 in
favor of Ale House II.
(Ale House vs. Alumni Grill Sharks - 6/12/00)
The Ale House looked flat, played flat and hit flat.
Although the Ale House took a 3-1 lead in the second inning thanks to a
homer by Tom Jewett, it was all Alumni Grill Sharks. Time to re-load
and re-focus for the next game. The final score was 13-7 in
favor of Alumni Grill Sharks.
(Ale House vs. Ale House II - 6/9/00)
Rain Out!
(Ale House vs. Pam's Pub - 6/5/00)
It looked like another rain out, but the game went on with a continuous
soft rain all night. Did the Ale House come to play? John
Anderson started the first inning with a solo home run, but then Pam's Pub
came right back with four runs in the bottom of the inning. After
that, it was all Ale House. The defense was solid, Terry Scriven
finally worked into a grove and the bats activated. Michael
Labanowski capped the fifth inning with a three run homer and the Ale House
prepared for a competitive game against the Ale House II on Friday. The
final score was 16-4.
(Ale House vs. Sidelines - 6/2/00)
Rain Out!
(Ale House vs. ProTech - 5/26/00)
Jack Brock made his first start of the season for the Ale House
and although he pitched good enough to win, the Ale House offense gave him
little support. ProTech jumped out to a quick lead, and before long
it was 7-3. The Ale House defense look suspect and awarded ProTech
half of their runs. With the last two games rain outs, everything
about the Ale House was rusty. The final score was 9-4 in
favor of ProTech.
(Ale House vs. Orange Motors - 5/24/00)
Rain out!
(Ale House vs. Ale House II - 5/18/00)
Rain out!
(Ale House vs. Theo's - 5/16/00)
The Ale House bats started to heat up. The defense
was crisp and Terry Scriven pitched for his second win and first shutout
of the year. Everyone in the lineup contributed and Bill Saunders
hit his first towering home run and grand slam of the year. The final score was
15-0.
(Ale House vs. Erin's Pub - 5/12/00)
The game started off slow for both
squads. In the third inning, Erin's Pub added three, but the Ale
House came right back with four runs in the bottom of the third.
From there, the Ale House never looked back. Scotty Brown surprised
the Las Vegas odds makers by going yard in his last at back. Rumor
had the odds at 500:1. The team slowly worked out some pre-season
jitters and the defense held strong. Terry Scriven pitched for the
win. The final score was 10-3.
