The 2002 Ale House season is officially over. The team would like to say "Thank You" to Brian Gilchrist and the Ale House for sponsorship and to all of the great fans who supported our team. See you next season!
(PLAYOFFS - Round
Two - Best of Three
- Game 2)
Ale House vs. Ale House II - 8/13/02)
The Ale House games are always competitive and
intense. However, the beginning of this playoff game was bizarre.
At 7:55PM, with an 8:00PM game time, the Ale House had six players.
The game started late with the Ale House fielding eight players to start
and Ed Charette on the mound. The Ale House II took a quick 3-0 lead
in the first and then a 5-0 lead after five innings. The Ale House
then bounced back and took a 7-5 lead heading into the top of the seventh
on a three run homer by Mike Ward. The Ale House II never quit and
they scored three on a based loaded two out double. The Ale House
failed to score in the bottom of the seventh. The Ale House did
finish with 10 players in the field and Mark Capano on the mound.
The final score was 8-7 in favor of the Ale House II. The Ale House
II wins the series 2-0.
(PLAYOFFS - Round
Two - Best of Three
- Game 1)
Ale House vs. Ale House II - 8/8/02)
It was a game full of suspense. The Ale House
jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a two run homer by Ed Charette and then a 4-1
lead on a two run homer by John Anderson. After that, the game
fizzled for the Ale House as the Ale House II exploded for six runs in the
bottom of the sixth inning to put the game away. The final score was
11-6 in favor of the Ale House II. The Ale House II leads the series
1-0.
(PLAYOFFS - Round
One - Best of Three
- Game 2)
Ale House vs. Sadie's Mud Dogs - 8/6/02)
It was a much different game than the first.
Sadie's Mud Dogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead. The Ale House went up two
and then the Mud Dogs tied it in the top of the sixth. A dramatic
center field home run by Phil Williams capped the win in the bottom of the
sixth as Mark Capano held the Mud Dogs to three quick outs in the top of
the seventh. On a down note, Mike Bendon was ejected from the game
in the first inning for arguing a third strike call and as a result will
be suspended for four games. The final score was 5-4. The Ale House wins the
series 2-0.
(PLAYOFFS - Round
One - Best of Three
- Game 1)
Ale House vs. Sadie's Mud Dogs - 8/2/02)
The Ale House demonstrated a lot of patients.
The Ale House took a quick 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the third.
Sadie's Mud Dogs came right back. The Ale House took the lead again,
but the Mud Dogs came back. The Mud Dogs then went up 10-6, but the
Ale House answered right back with a big inning putting the Ale House up
15-10. It was an exciting game with some intense plays at home, but
the Ale House pulled it out. The final score was 15-12. The
Ale House leads the series 1-0.

Final game of the regular season)
The last game of the regular season produced no
umpires. It will be recorded as an un-played game.
(Ale House vs. AGS / Trump -
7/29/02)
Although the Ale House was short players and most
players were out of position, the game was crisp and quick. Bill
Saunders made the highlight reel by making a surprise appearance at second
base and turning a double play. The final score was 1-0 in favor of
AGS / Trump.
(Ale House vs. Emerald Club
-
7/26/02)
It was a lethargic game. The rain was coming
down before the game and the Emerald Club showed up with eight players.
Although the Ale House certainly hit the ball, it must be put into
perspective. Highlighting the night however, was Ed Charette's
towering home run to deep right field. So say it was foul, others
say it was of epic proportions. The final score was 18-3.
(Ale House vs. Scoreboard -
7/23/02)
Rain Out!
(Ale House vs. Galley & Grog
-
7/18/02)
The Ale House anticipated that they would be short
players, but happily, ten players were able to make the game. Bill
Saunders went 2-2 with 2 RBI's.
Steve Williams,
however, stole the show with some great fielding and excellent base
running. The Ale House probably had
one of their best hitting games of the season.
Ed Charette once again stepped up as the pitcher of
record and helped himself out with the bat as well. The final score
was 10-8.
(Ale House vs. Sadie's Mud Dogs
-
7/16/02)
The defense was crisp, except for the blinding sun,
and the offense showed signs of life. The score was 4-3 in the fifth
and that's when the Ale House opened it up. Once again Ed Charette
pitched and this time he was rewarded with the win. The final score
was 10-5.
(Ale House vs. Ale House II -
7/15/02)
As always, the match up between the Ale House and
Ale House II was competitive. Although the Ale House was without any
of their normal starting pitchers, Ed Charette
pitch a strong last four innings. It was the first two innings that
ultimately would the difference. The Ale House kept battling, yet
could never get over the lead of the first few innings. The final
score was 15-10 in favor of the Ale House II.
(Ale House vs. Turmon's -
7/11/02)
The first game in a couple of weeks due to rain
outs and the holiday produced a lackluster game. The Ale House
played with nine players. The defense was good, even with a couple
guys out of position, but the Ale House is still yet to get the offense
together. The highlight was a solo home run, followed up by a two
run homer by Mike Bendon. The final score was 10-8.
(Ale House vs. Ale House II - 6/27/02)
Rain Out!
(Ale House vs. Main Street Grill/Bonded
- 6/25/02)
The Ale House just can not seem to get it together.
A well played game, but the lack of offense is killing the Ale House. The final score was
6-4 in favor of Main Street Grill/Bonded.
(Ale House vs. Emerald Club
- 6/24/02)
The Ale House defense was crisp, producing 4 inning
ending double plays. However, the Ale House just couldn't get the
bats started. The final score was 2-1 in favor of Emerald Club.
(Ale House vs. Pip's Athletic Lounge
- 6/19/02)
The Ale House started the game with eight players.
That statement alone should set the stage for the game. It was a
good old fashion butt whooping. The final score was 1-0 in favor of
Pip's Athletic Lounge.
(Ale House vs. Turmon's
- 6/14/02)
Rain Out!
(Ale House vs. Mahr's Place -
6/10/02)
The Ale House needed a base hit by Dennis Ned in bottom of 7th
inning to secure the win.
The final score was 9-8.
(Ale House vs. Scoreboard -
6/7/02)
Having just played the first game of a doubleheader
and coming in on the wrong end, the Ale House came together and played
strong softball. It helps when you score twelve runs in the first
inning. The bats came alive and the defense was crisp. This is
naturally a formula for a win. Mark Capano
pitched a strong game and Mike Bendon hit a three run homer. The
final score was 18-7.
(Ale House vs. Main Street Grill/Bonded
- 6/7/02)
The Ale House was coming off a good win, but
couldn't string the hits they needed, nor did the defense play as crisply
as expected. Brian Squires pitched well
enough to win, but the Ale House didn't help much with the bats. The
final score was 8-4 in favor of Main Street Grill/Bonded.
(Ale House vs. Ale House II
- 6/4/02)
When the Ale House plays the Ale House II, it is
always a good competitive game. Tonight was no different. Mark
Capano pitched a strong game, the defense was
crisp and the offense produced when needed. The Ale House jumped out
to a 6-0 lead, but against the Ale House II that is never enough. A
quick rally by the Ale House II brought the score to 6-3, but the Ale
House bounced back and re-captured the runs to maintain a solid lead.
The final score was 9-3.
(Ale House vs. Emerald Club
- 5/31/02)
Rain Out!
(Ale House vs. Turmon's
- 5/28/02)
Serving suspensions for three players from the
previous outing, the Ale House just never seemed to get in synch.
The Ale House was up 5-4 going into the top of the sixth, but Turmon's
scored four and held the Ale House in the top of the seventh. The
final score was 9-7 in favor of Turmon's.
(Ale House vs. Valenti's Pub
- 5/21/02)
The game was stopped. Leave it at that...
Recorded as a loss for the Ale House.
(Ale House vs. Galley & Grog - 5/17/02)
The Ale House jumped out with four runs in the
first and four runs in the second and that was all they needed to put up
the first win of the season. Although a lethargic game after the
first two innings, the Ale House looks to get back on track and continue
the winning tradition that has made the franchise what it is today.
The final score was 8-5.
(Ale House vs. Main Street Grill/Bonded - 5/14/02)
Rain Out!
(Ale House vs. Sadie's Mud Dogs - 5/10/02)
The Ale House got thumped! The final
score was rumored to be 20-9 in favor of Sadie's Mud Dogs.
(Ale House vs. Mahr's Place - 5/6/02
- Opening Day)
Opening day for the Ale House didn't go as
planned. The team was rusty and the overall play wasn't up to the
Ale House standards. Although the Ale House jumped out with five
runs in the first inning, the wheels never got going after that. The
final score was 10-9 in favor of Mahr's Place.
