The Ale House II team would like to thank Brian Gilchrist and everyone for their support during the 2004 season.

Ale House II won its fifth

weeks, the Troy Modified Softball League resumed play with game
one of the Championship series between the leagues
top two teams; the Ale House II and Valenti's Pub.

(Ale House II vs. Red Front - 8/18/04 - Playoffs - Round Two - Game Two of Three)
Joe Maru made only his second career start (both playoff
game wins) and pitched five innings for the
victory. He allowed five
earned runs on ten hits. He struck out
one and allowed one
walk. Red Front welcomed Joe to his season pitching debut with their first
two batters drilling line-drives back at his head.
He speared both in entertaining fashion and went on to give a commendable
effort. Oscar Fazioli pitched the final two
innings allowing no runs on one
hit.
The Ale House II team completed a sweep of their semi-final series with
another strong offensive performance. Ale House II
jumped out with four runs in the top of the
first, capped by a two-run
single by Paul Lynch. They stretched the lead to
7-0 by the middle of the third, but Red Front
scored five in the bottom of the
third with the help of two
costly errors. Ale House II increased the lead to 10-5 in the middle of the
fifth, led by a two-run
home-run from Bob DeCelle. Red Front closed the gap with
four runs in the bottom of the fifth to
make the score 10-9. Ale House II responded with six
runs in the top of the sixth behind a

(Ale House II vs. Red Front - 8/17/04 - Playoffs - Round Two - Game One of Three)
Oscar Fazioli pitched the complete game victory. He struck
out one and allowed three
walks.
The Ale House II team opened their playoff campaign with a dramatic victory
in the bottom of the seventh.
Ale House II jumped out to a 9-1 lead after second
innings, behind two home-runs by Dom Fruscio
(2-run & 3-run) and a solo shot by Chris Meyer.
However, Ale House II managed to trail in the middle of the fifth inning
10-9 due to some poor defensive play and timely Red Front hitting. The Ale
House II team battled back to take a 12-10 lead heading into the
seventh inning. Red Front loaded the bases with
1-out on two singles and a walk.
Jimmy Becker then made the defensive play of the year with an all-out
diving catch of a line drive to the hole, for the second out. The next
batter hit a fly ball to right-center that should have ended the game, but
it was dropped for a three-base error allowing
three runs to score and giving the Red Front a
13-12 lead. Bob DeCelle lead off the bottom of the
seventh with a tremendous home-run to tie the game at
thirteen. A single by Dom Fruscio, a sacrifice
bunt, and an intentional walk preceeded the
finishing touch of the night ... a titanic three-run
walk-off home-run by Paul Lynch. Offensive
highlights included:
Dom Fruscio went 3-3 with a single,
two home-runs
and five RBIs
Bob DeCelle went 3-4 with a single,
double, home-run

(Ale House II vs. Mud Dogs - 8/6/04)
Oscar Fazioli allowed three
earned runs on eight hits in the loss. He struck
out one and walked five.
Playing it's first game since July 12th, the Ale House II team was about as
flat as could be. In a game that meant nothing in the standings for either
team, it was a truly uninspired performance. Leading 4-2 going into the
seventh inning, the Ale House
allowed the Mud Dogs to score four runs to take
the lead. The offense had it's second lowest hit total of the season with
eight, while the defense made
three errors that lead to three unearned
runs. The few positive highlights on the night were a couple of perfectly
executed double-plays (Pontari-Strunk-Cesare and
Strunk-Becker-Cesare), Bob DeCelle's laser throw to Kevin Canfield to cut
down a runner at the plate, and Brian Weaver's diving catch in his first
appearance in right-field. Offensive
highlights were:
Paul Lynch went 3-3 with a single,
double, home-run
and two RBIs
Dom Fruscio went 1-2 with a
triple and a RBI
Brian Weaver went 1-2 with a
double and a RBI
Nino Pontari went 1-3 with a
double
Bob DeCelle went 1-3 with a single
Joe Cesare went 1-3 with a single
The final score was 6-4 in favor of the Mud Dogs.

(Ale House II vs. Ale House I - 7/12/04)
Mike Heffner allowed six earned runs on
nine hits in the victory. He struck out
one and walked two.
The Ale House II team jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first,
capped by a Dom Fruscio 2-run home-run and never
looked back. The Ale House added
two runs in the 3rd inning, and then
six in the 5th inning to
stretch the lead to 11-1. The second half of the game was marked by steady
rain and poor defensive play. The Ale House
committed two errors in each of the last
three innings, to run the game total to an
uncharacteristic seven errors. This helped to
allowed five runs in the bottom of the 7th inning
just to make things interesting. Offensive
highlights included:
Dom Fruscio went 3-3 with a single,
double, Home-run and two
RBIs
Bobby Strunk went 2-4 with a single,
Home-run and two RBIs
Bob DeCelle went 2-4 with a single,
Double and two RBIs
Chris Meyer went 2-3 with two singles
The final score was 11-9 in favor of the Ale House II.
(Ale House II vs. Ale House I - 7/9/04)
Oscar Fazioli allowed four earned runs on
eleven hits in the victory. He struck out
one and walked one.
In an lackluster and sloppy game, the Ale House II team managed to hold on
for the win to clinch no worse than
second place, and guaranteed itself a first-round
playoff bye. The Ale House II team's offense
was not as potent as it has been in recent games, but managed to
use timely hits to score five first inning
runs after the first two batters made outs. Brian Weaver's bases-loaded
triple started the scoring, and Chris Meyer's two-run
double closed it out. The Ale House II team never trailed after that point.
Joe Maru's two-run single in the fourth inning
capped the scoring. Offensive highlights
included:
Brian Weaver went 3-3 with two
singles, a triple and three RBIs
Dom Fruscio went 2-3 with a
single and a triple
Bob DeCelle went 2-3 with two singles
Joe Maru went 1-1 with a single
and two RBIs
Chris Meyer went 1-2 with a double
and two RBIs
The final score was 7-6 in favor of the Ale House II.
(Ale House II vs. All-American Barber Shop - 7/7/04)
Mike Heffner allowed only two singles in
the third inning for the six-inning shutout
victory. He struck out
three and allowed two
walks. This is his second consecutive shutout, and extends his
scoreless innings streak to fourteen innings over
the last three games.
The Ale House II team's offense started off slow, with only
two runs over the first three
innings, while leaving eight men on base.
However, we took advantage of ten walks and
a twelve run third inning to put the game out of
reach. Offensive highlights
included:
Bob DeCelle went 3-4 with two singles,
a home-run and four RBIs
Dom Fruscio went 3-5 with a single,
a double, a triple and three
RBIs
Chris Meyer went 2-3 with two
singles and two RBIs
Michael Labanowski went
2-3 with two singles and one
RBI
Brian Weaver went 2-4 with a
single, a home-run and three RBIs

(Ale House II vs. Ahearn's Hideaway - 6/30/04)
Mike Heffner scattered three singles for
the five-inning shutout victory. He struck
out one and allowed no
walks.
Despite missing five starters, the Ale House II
team showed its depth and put together another strong offensive performance,
as well as playing solid overall defense. Thanks to Bobby Strunk and Andy
Rosen for filling in on short notice to handle middle infield duties. The
victory puts the Ale House II back in a tie for
first place with Valenti's Pub at 9-1.
Offensive highlights included:
Bob DeCelle went 4-4 with a single,
a double, two home-runs
and six RBIs
Mike Dubay went 4-4 with three
singles, a double and
three RBIs
Bobby Strunk went 3-4 with two

(Ale House II vs. Ziggy's - 6/25/04)
Oscar Fazioli scattered seven
hits for the win. He struck out three and allowed
no walks.
Another outstanding offensive performance by the Ale House II team, as
the Ale House II had tewenty-two
hits in the six-inning
game. Excellent production from the entire lineup, as each batter had at
least one hit, and the 8-11 batters
each drove in two runs. The victory puts us
back in a tie for first place with Valenti's Pub at 8-1.
Offensive highlights included:
Nino Pontari went 4-4 with
three singles, a home-run
and four RBIs
Kevin Canfield went 3-4 with

Joe Maru went 2-4 with two singles
Mike Dubay went 2-4 with two singles
The final score was 19-4 in favor of the Ale House II.
(Ale House II vs. Red Front - 6/22/04)
Mike Heffner scattered nine hits
for the win. He struck out one and allowed
one walk. In an almost exactly
opposite situation from the last game, where there was only
one ground ball out, this game featured only
one putout by an outfielder. Our infield defense
was solid all night including some highlight-reel plays by Jimmy Becker at
SS and Joe Cesare at first base.
The game was marked by the return of a more typical offensive performance by
the Ale House II team. We banged out
twenty-two hits, including
seven doubles, five triples, and
two home-runs. An eight-run
first inning got things
started and there was no turning back. The victory puts
the AH II back in a tie for first place.
Offensive highlights included:
Mike Dubay went 4-4 with two singles,
a triple, a home-run
and three RBIs
Chris Meyer went 3-4 with a single,
a double, a triple,

a double, a triple,
and two RBIs
Brian Weaver went 3-4 with a single,
two doubles, and two RBIs
Kevin Canfield went 2-3 with a
single, a triple and one RBI
Joe Maru went 2-3 with a single
and a triple
Joe Cesare went 1-1 with a
double and three RBIs
Dom Fruscio went 1-3 with a home-run
and two RBIs
The final score was 21-6 in favor of the Ale House II.
(Ale House II vs. Kielty's Emerald Isle - 6/18/04)
The Ale House II team bounced back from its first defeat behind a dominant pitching performance by Oscar Fazioli. He scattered three singles and walked one, while striking out seven. Although the offense was rather sparse, with only seven hits, the Ale House II team managed to put up single runs in the third, fifth, and seventh innings. Excellent pitching and error-free defense were the keys to this victory. Offensive highlights included:
Jimmy Becker went 3-3
with two singles, a triple and one RBI
Joe Maru went 2-3 with
two singles
Chris Meyer went 1-3 with a
triple and one RBI
Mike Dubay went 1-3 with a single
and one RBI
The final score was 3-0 in favor of the Ale House II.
(Ale House II vs. Valenti's Pub - 6/15/04)
A truly uninspired performance by the Ale House II team. Valenti's Pub jumped out with four runs in the top of the first inning, and three in the second inning to build a 7-1 lead and never looked back. Ale House II batters could not seem to figure out Valenti's Pub pitcher Jesse Waite, as the Ale House managed only ten hits, and some fine plays by the Valenti's defense put out any sparks of life the Ale House had. The Valenti's offense banged out sixteen hits and worked six walks. The few offensive highlights included:
Bob DeCelle went 2-3
with a double and home-run
and two RBIs
Joe Cesare went 2-2 with a
double, a triple and a
RBI
Mike Dubay went 2-3 with a single
and a triple
Joe Maru went 2-3
with two singles
The final score was 13-4 in favor of the Valenti's Pub.
(Ale House II vs. Mud Dogs - 6/11/04)
Oscar Fazioli
scattered twelve hits for the win. He struck out three and allowed one walk.
In a back-and-forth game where the Mud Dogs matched the Ale House
run-for-run thru the first three innings, the Ale House scored two runs in
the forth, fifth, and sixth inning to lead 13-7. The Ale House then tacked
on four in the top of the seventh only to have the Mud Dogs match us again
with four in the bottom of the seventh to make the game a little closer. The
Ale House II team showed a balanced attack by scoring in every inning, and
put on a power display with six home-runs, led by Dom Fruscio with three.
Offensive highlights included:
Dom Fruscio went
3-4 with three home-runs and seven RBIs
Paul Lynch went 2-4 with a Single, a home-run and three RBIs

Mike Heffner allowed four
un-earned runs on five hits for the win. He struck
out one and allowed two

plate with two doubles and a walk.
The Ale House II team, despite missing four
regulars and playing with a shuffled infield, jumped out with
seven runs in the
first inning, and never looked back. Kevin
Canfield celebrated the birth of his son, by narrowly missing hitting for
the cycle; failing to get the needed single in his
final at bat. Newly inserted leadoff hitter Mike Dubay
got things going by singling in his first three at bats.
Offensive highlights included:
Bob DeCelle went 4-4
with four singles and one RBI
Kevin Canfield went 3-4 with a
double, triple and a home-run
